Who we are
The Pup Guide is an independent dog- and puppy-care resource created by lifelong dog owners who got tired of wading through contradictory, half-accurate advice every time a simple question came up — can my dog eat this?, how much should I feed my puppy?, is this normal?. We built the site we wished we’d had as new owners: clear, honest, and genuinely useful.
We’re not a faceless content mill and we don’t pretend to be veterinarians. We’re experienced dog people who research carefully, write plainly, and are upfront about what we do and don’t know.
How we research and fact-check
Dog health and nutrition is a “your-money-or-your-life” topic, and we treat it that way. Every guide on this site follows the same process:
- Grounded in established sources. We check our facts against reputable veterinary and canine-nutrition references — organizations like the American Kennel Club (AKC), the ASPCA, VCA Hospitals, and veterinary nutrition guidelines — rather than repeating internet folklore.
- Safety first, always. Every food guide leads with a clear verdict, flags what’s genuinely dangerous (never softened), and tells you exactly when to call your vet or animal poison control.
- No invented authority. We never fabricate studies, statistics, or credentials. If something is uncertain or depends on your individual dog, we say so.
- General information, not diagnosis. Our content is here to inform you and help you ask your vet better questions — it doesn’t replace an exam by a professional who knows your dog.
What we cover
From “can dogs eat…?” food-safety answers to puppy care, positive-reinforcement training, breed guides, and honest gear buying advice, we aim to cover the questions real dog owners actually search for — at every stage of a dog’s life.
